Paul Reynolds

Scientist and Research Advisor

Education: Ph.D

Expertise: Molecular and Developmental Biology

About Paul Reynolds

Paul R. Reynolds, Ph.D., is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he has been a faculty member since 2007. With a Ph.D. in Molecular and Developmental Biology from the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Reynolds has established himself as a leading researcher in pulmonary and systemic inflammation, focusing on the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic diseases.

Dr. Reynolds’ research primarily investigates the role of the Receptor for Advanced Glycation End-products (RAGE) in inflammatory responses triggered by environmental exposures, such as secondhand tobacco smoke, e-cigarette vapor, diesel particulate matter, and hyperglycemia. His work particularly explores how hyperglycemia-induced inflammation and ketogenic states influence systemic health outcomes. He has secured over $3 million in external funding as a principal investigator, including multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

A prolific scholar, Dr. Reynolds has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and has given presentations all over the world.

Dr. Reynolds has delivered over 40 international presentations and international conferences and other global events. He has also participated in diverse national meetings and conferences and participated in podcasts and CME events.

Dr. Paul's Role at Joi + Blokes

As a member of the Science Advisory Board for Joi + Blokes, Dr. Reynolds leverages his extensive expertise in molecular and developmental physiology to guide the company’s innovative health and wellness solutions. With a focus on inflammation, glycation, and systemic health, Dr. Reynolds will provide guidance on the development of personalized dietary information aimed at optimizing metabolic and inflammatory outcomes. He will also assist in the interpretation of anonymized data maintained by Joi + Blokes in order to inform evidence-based strategies to enhance Joi + Blokes’ offerings.
