Several hormones play a key role in supporting thyroid function and hormone conversion:

  • Progesterone – Helps boost thyroid hormone production by supporting the body’s metabolic rate and reducing cortisol, which can interfere with thyroid function.
  • Testosterone – Plays a role in T4 to T3 conversion, aiding in the activation of thyroid hormones for better energy and metabolism.
  • Cortisol (in balance) – While excess cortisol can suppress thyroid function, healthy cortisol levels are necessary for proper thyroid hormone regulation.
  • Estrogen – When balanced, estrogen supports thyroid hormone sensitivity, but excessive estrogen can lead to higher levels of thyroid-binding globulin (TBG), reducing the amount of free, active thyroid hormones.
  • DHEA – A precursor hormone that helps regulate cortisol and thyroid function, supporting energy and metabolism.

Optimizing these hormones can enhance thyroid balance, energy levels, and overall metabolic health. If you’re experiencing symptoms of thyroid dysfunction, working with a healthcare provider can help assess and optimize your hormone levels.

Skip your thyroid medication the morning of your blood draw or allow a minimum of 4 hours after consumption.

  • Unexplained Weight Changes – Difficulty losing weight or unexpected weight gain.
  • Brain Fog & Memory Issues – Struggling with focus, forgetfulness, or mental fatigue.
  • Hair Thinning or Loss – Brittle hair, shedding, or slower hair growth.
  • Low Energy & Fatigue – Feeling constantly tired, sluggish, or lacking motivation.
  • Cold Intolerance – Frequently feeling cold, even in warm environments.
  • Mood Changes – Increased anxiety, depression, or irritability.
  • Digestive Issues – Constipation or sluggish digestion.

If you’re experiencing multiple symptoms, testing your thyroid levels can help determine if an imbalance is affecting your health.

Your clinician has discretion over how often you need a lab. Thyroid care typically requires labs more often in the beginning. Once your symptoms and protocol are dialed in, you will not need as many labs.

After starting your treatment, we recommend a lab test and clinician follow-up around 6 weeks to assess your response and adjust dosage if needed. From there, you’ll typically have check-ins every 3 months. Once your dosage is optimized and you’re feeling your best, follow-ups may be spaced out based on your needs and provider’s guidance.

At Joi+ Blokes, we take a holistic, preventative approach to care, which means many advanced treatments and lab tests are not typically covered by insurance. However, we do offer insurance-pay options for certain prescriptions:

  • Women’s health medications like estrogen and progesterone can be sent to your local pharmacy, where you may use your insurance benefits.
  • Thyroid medications will be sent to your local pharmacy, allowing you to utilize your insurance coverage.
  • FDA-approved GLP-1/GIP medications for weight loss and type 2 diabetes, including Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and Mounjaro, may also be eligible for coverage.

While we assist with prior authorizations and prescription submissions, we do not bill insurance directly. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for specific coverage details.

Yes! You can use your HSA or FSA funds to cover eligible purchases. We are happy to provide a detailed receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your provider. You can then submit these documents to your HSA/FSA account for potential reimbursement. Since coverage varies by plan, we recommend checking with your provider to confirm eligibility.
