Have questions? We’re here to help

No, elimination is not necessarily permanent. It is recommended to temporarily remove foods that test moderate or high and then gradually reintroduce them. The best approach is to reintroduce one new food every three days, carefully monitoring for any symptoms or reactions. This process helps identify which foods may be causing sensitivities and allows for a more personalized diet.

To ensure an easy and successful finger prick blood collection, follow these tips:

  1. Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water before collecting your sample to improve blood flow.
  2. Warm Your Hands – Soak your hand in warm water for a few minutes or rub them together to increase circulation.
  3. Use the Correct Finger – The ring or middle finger of your non-dominant hand is usually best. Avoid the thumb and pinky.
  4. Prick the Side of Your Finger – The side of your fingertip is less sensitive and tends to produce better blood flow.
  5. Let Gravity Help – Keep your hand below heart level and gently massage from the base of your finger toward the tip—avoid squeezing too hard.
  6. Use a Steady, Firm Lance – Press the lancet firmly against your finger before triggering it to ensure a clean puncture.
  7. Wipe the First Drop – The first drop of blood may contain tissue fluid, so wiping it away ensures a cleaner sample.
  8. Be Patient – If blood flow is slow, try massaging your hand or warming it up again.

Following these steps will help you get a sufficient and clean sample with minimal discomfort.

  • Identifying Potential Triggers – If you experience bloating, fatigue, headaches, or skin issues after eating certain foods, a test may help identify patterns.
  • Guiding an Elimination Diet – A test can provide clues about which foods to temporarily remove and systematically reintroduce.
  • Personalized Nutrition Approach – Some people find that removing foods flagged as potential sensitivities improves digestion and overall well-being.

At Joi+ Blokes, we take a holistic, preventative approach to care, which means many advanced treatments and lab tests are not typically covered by insurance. However, we do offer insurance-pay options for certain prescriptions:

  • Women’s health medications like estrogen and progesterone can be sent to your local pharmacy, where you may use your insurance benefits.
  • Thyroid medications will be sent to your local pharmacy, allowing you to utilize your insurance coverage.
  • FDA-approved GLP-1/GIP medications for weight loss and type 2 diabetes, including Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and Mounjaro, may also be eligible for coverage.

While we assist with prior authorizations and prescription submissions, we do not bill insurance directly. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for specific coverage details.

Yes! You can use your HSA or FSA funds to cover eligible purchases. We are happy to provide a detailed receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your provider. You can then submit these documents to your HSA/FSA account for potential reimbursement. Since coverage varies by plan, we recommend checking with your provider to confirm eligibility.
