“Paying for the lab orders and getting them done at my local Quest laboratory was better than paying $200 for a doctor visit and then paying an additional $200 for the labs! As far as a science-backed treatment, with more money on the science and less on inflated insurance-negotiated price office visits, this is it! BLOODWORK: It was easy to get a bloodwork order. The website went above and beyond by coordinating a letter of necessity so I could purchase it with my HSA. I took the paperwork to my local lab and they drew my blood. HEALTH REPORT: The website compiled my lab results into a health report but it’s not enough on its own—you should schedule with a doctor or nurse practitioner to go over the results. You schedule the appointment from your account portal. The consultation was a bit tricky to schedule—it took me twice accidentally scheduling with a life coach/nutritionist before scheduling with a nurse practitioner but once we got to the appointment it was amazing. My N.P. went through each item on the report, explaining what each meant about my current health and answering questions. She was very knowledgeable about the female endocrine/hormone system. Having all the time I needed with a provider and not just a quick 10 min. was SO helpful! Knowing WHY I’m doing what I’m doing for treatment will help me be consistent and confident that I’m doing the right thing. This is sort-of like an online version of a “concierge” doctor. You can sign up for them to mail all your medication and any follow up labs for monthly, quarterly or annual fees (depending on what service you’re selecting). Not all services allow your preferred billing cycle (so, for example, I don’t get to choose monthly payments for whatever I want, the website sets the term of payment depending on what you subscribe to). REQUESTS: My main request is that someday there will be an app to track my lab trends over time like there is with my Epic patient account that my other doctor’s office uses. Or it would be nice to link these new labs to my old results by somehow importing them into my Epic account or exporting from Epic to my Joi and Blokes account. The prices might seem a bit high but honestly, I’ve wasted more money just trying to find providers who are willing to comb through my labs to help me. I’m glad they’re not treating my symptoms. They are going to help me address some deficiencies I have and I can’t wait to see that help me heal. ”

“I found the process of scheduling my lab work to be a little unclear, but customer service was very quick in their responses (24-48 hours). I really appreciated the nurse practitioner I met with to go over my labs. She was informative, didn’t try to hard sell me on anything, but most importantly, didn’t try to pressure me out of trying something that was safe as my OB is always trying to do. I haven’t ordered my treatment plan yet, but the price seems reasonable. Overall, I have much more confidence than when I started the process of trying to get hormone help and wasn’t sure if telemedicine was reliable at all.”

“I have had other functional lab testing in the past but thought I'd give J&B a try - I was "influenced"! I was especially drawn in by the idea of an at-home blood draw, which did in fact end up being great and that alone is reason enough for me to do follow-up tests with them. My results call was yesterday and it was great! The lady I spoke with was friendly, knowledgable, informative, answered any questions I had and wasn't pushy with GLP-1's and the like. We came up with a plan I feel good about and am excited to get started. I will say that I wasn't aware that J&B would supply their own supplements, so as someone who already has many of the supplements they recommended, I'd be more interested in the dosage information for some so that I could use up what I already have - but I don't see that as an option. I also didn't realize there would be a monthly fee going forward if you want follow-up labs or are going to start HRT. I much prefer an "a-la-carte" format but I'm still going to give it a try for a few months anyway.”
